A Brief Citation of Rev. Sr. Dr. Dr. Carol Ijeoma Njoku, DMMM

Rev. Sr. Dr. Carol Ijeoma Njoku is a Catholic nun in the Congregation of the Daughters of Mary Mother of Mercy (DMMM), an institute of Pontifical Rights dedicated to works of mercy and charity. Her life as a daughter in DMMM inspired her mission to bring the love and mercy of God to the poor and needy in different parts of the world.

Sr. Carol has two doctoral degrees, first in War Narratives and Gender Representation, and in International Migration, Immigration Law, and Refugee Policy. Also, she is a certified mediator and chartered arbitrator by the London Institute of Chartered Arbitrators. As a Catholic nun, teacher, human rights advocate, humanitarian worker, and missionary, she has taught and mentored more than five thousand students and young adults at different levels of education from Elementary to High School and University in different parts of Africa and the United States. She has participated in and sponsored more than twenty-five research projects with her team across different regions of Africa, Europe, and America in search of solutions for victims of conflicts and human rights issues; and propagating the principles of conflict resolution, peacemaking, and restorative justice.

Working with the Sanctuary Missionaries and other collaborating religious non-profit organizations, Sr Carol has participated in the United Nations ECOSOC meetings to promote the rights and dignity of women and children in conflict areas. With her team, Sr. Carol has advanced several bills and debates at international and domestic levels on the status of women, children, and young people. The outcome of these is implemented at grassroots levels in religious and community services to enhance human development and peacebuilding. The project of conflict resolution is still ongoing in different parts of Africa but has taken a broader dimension in North America with the increasing influx of migration and homelessness. As the Director of Mission for the Sanctuary Missionaries of Divine Mercy, Sr. Carol and her team are committed to being part of the brain that brings solutions, healing, restoration, and lasting hope to the needy.
